The Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") has posted a searchable Year 2000 database on its World Wide Web site that provides instant access to the Year 2000 reports that certain broker-dealers, transfer agents, investment advisers and mutual funds are required to file with it. To date, the database includes over 13,000 reports that describe the state of Year 2000 readiness, costs of addressing Year 2000 problems, Year 2000 risks and contingency plans of reporting entities/persons. While facilitating access to such reports, the database has certain limitations, including: (i) no access to attachments or exhibits to filed Year 2000 reports; (ii) potential errors in data entry and transcription; and (iii) the potential for stale information. Reporting entities and persons may wish to review their reports on the website database and submit written comments or corrections to the relevant authorities as noted therein.
