The Government Finance Officers Association has published a revised edition of Taxation of Employee Fringe Benefits: A guide for state and local government employers. The 165-page volume provides government employers with information as to whether benefits such as vehicles, insurance, dependent care assistance, tuition and deferred compensation are subject to federal taxation. It also tells how to determine value, what to withhold and how to report to employees and to IRS. According to BNA, the publication is available to GFOA members for $35.00 and to non-members for $45.00. Readers can reach GFOA by e-mail at PublicationOrders@gfoa.org or by telephone at 312.977.3700.
