How long must you live in Arizona to file for divorce?<\/b><\/p>

You must be a resident of Arizona for at least 90 days before filing for divorce. If you have lived in Arizona less than 90 days, you may file for a legal separation.<\/p>

How long does it take to get a divorce in Arizona?<\/b><\/p>

At least 60 days after the opposing party has been served.<\/p>

How is child support determined?<\/b><\/p>

Child support is based on several factors: the gross incomes of the parents, the cost of medical insurance for the children, special needs or education expenses for the children, the amount of visitation exercised by each parent, day care costs amongst other factors.<\/p>

When does child support stop?<\/b><\/p>

When the child reaches the age of 18 or graduates from high school or the equivalent, whichever last occurs.<\/p>

How is spousal maintenance (alimony) determined?<\/b><\/p>

Spousal maintenance is discretionary with each judge. Whether a person is entitled to spousal maintenance and if so, how much and how long is based on numerous factors. Some of these factors include but are not limited to the following: each party's ability to support themselves, whether there are young children precluding one from working, each party's earning ability, whether one party has contributed to the other party's education, the length of the marriage and the age of the parties, the employment experience and earning abilities of the parties, the expenses of the parties, the standard of living established during the marriage, and the health of the parties.<\/p>

How is custody determined?<\/b><\/p>

Custody is based on the best interests of the children. The court considers many factors including but not limited to: the wishes of the parents, the child's wishes, the parent's relationship with the children, the children's adjustment to school, home and the community, the mental and physical health of all involved, which parent is more likely to allow continuing and frequent access to the other parent, and which parent has provided primary care of the child.<\/p><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
