Have You Had Your Annual Legal Check-Up?

The state of your legal health is just as important as your physical health. Review your legal health. Some of the areas & questions you should consider include:

Am I sufficiently insured for liability and auto accidents?

Consider increasing your liability limits, especially coverage for No-Fault and Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist benefits. Do you have an Umbrella Policy? It provides additional coverage at a modest cost

Is my Estate in order? Review your Wills to ensure it meets your needs. If you don't have a Will, have one prepared. Engage in financial planning to protect your family's future and minimize taxes.

Is your home safe?

Repair steps & railings. Fix sidewalks. Clear walkways of snow & ice. Make sure rugs and carpets are secured. Erect & maintain fencing around pools. Don't let guests drive drunk or under the influence. Anticipate safety problems and prevent them.

Statute of Limitations?

Do you have potential lawsuits or claims that haven't been commenced? If you have claims for contracts, accidents, estates, workers' compensation, slander, etc., the longer you wait, the greater the risk that your claim will be lost by the passage of time.

Marital or Family problems?

Consider family counseling. If that doesn't help, consider divorce or legal separation. Are you receiving adequate child support; are custody and visitation adequate? Awards can be modified based on changed circumstances.
