With the increase popularity of golf, and the number of lawsuits associated with the sport being filed -- from errant golf balls to employee issues, as well as environmental concerns -- Zurich U.S. is offering a new golf course insurance program to 18-hole public and private courses. It will be offered in 37 states initially, and only to courses with greens fees of $45 or more per person.
The insurance will be underwritten by Zurich American Insurance Co., and as reported by Zurich U.S. the "new golf insurance program offers property, general liability, workers compensation, auto and umbrella insurance coverages. Additional enhancements include the sometimes hard to find directors & officers liability insurance, limited pollution, liquor, employment-related coverage for public courses, and environmental protection for those courses with underground storage tanks or built on landfills." Contact Fran Harding, Zurich U.S. at (410) 338-9500 for more information.
