The United States Supreme Court refused to review the controversial Ninth Circuit decision that held that Microsoft improperly denied benefits to workers originally hired as independent contractors and later reclassified as employees. The High Court has thus signaled its approval of greater protections for independent contractors, and suggests that employers take especially great care in classifying employee and non-employee workers.
